A Note from Clare

Over the years I have gardened here at Sannacott very happily, having been lucky enough to take on a large and mature garden. I have changed quite a lot but my gardening tends to be quite haphazard – popping in plants here and there as they take my fancy.

I have often thought about learning some basic garden design techniques but never quite found the right course locally. Having chatted with friends I found there are lots of others out there wanting help, guidance and advice.

So with that in mind I approached Lizzie Stock with the idea of running some basic design and practical gardening courses.

LIZZIE STOCK
Lizzie has been designing and developing gardens for the past 12 years having trained at Bicton College. She is also a very experienced hands on gardener with a wide knowledge of plants and her aim is to run inspiring short courses that are fun for the keen amateur gardener in an informal learning atmosphere

Courses are run in small groups with a maximum of 8 people, allowing you plenty of individual attention.

ABOUT OUR COURSES

One Day Border planning course:

These take several different forms but all with the same aim. You will learn how to compose an effective planting scheme combining plants to create stunning borders full of colour, texture and structure.

You will create your own planting plan and plant list. Giving you a well designed border rather than a random selection of plants.

You will need to bring a dry soil sample, photos and measurements of your border.

Ideas for a Problem area – one day:

We all have areas of the garden that are a little more challenging. Bring photos and measurements of your garden for helpful and practical solutions.

Design and Plan your own garden – two day:

Stuck for ideas in what to do with your garden and what to put where? Bring measurements and photos of your garden and learn the basic principles of garden design and create your own plan.
